I often prefer all the food around the main event of Christmas; cold cuts, our family tradition of Gravadlax, pork pie, cheeses... this year I still loved it, though the main event was as good.
Christmas Eve dinner of foie gras with duck breast,
plum and star anise sauce. Yes, that was one portion...
Christmas morning - scrambled eggs with truffles on toast
Spaghetti with mushrooms and truffles
Boxing Day ham
Bubble & squeak
I hope you had an enjoyable holiday eating to your heart's content. A happy new year to you all!

I hate using but I think OMG is appropriate. Truffles and foie gras the size of your face? Your family clearly understands what Christmas is all about.
thanks for the link to the HFW recipe for gravadlax, I didn't think it was so simple!
Do you want to adopt me? I'd happily join any family who eats foie gras & truffles with such abandon! not to mention everything else!
Good job. The eggs and truffles made me drool. And that pie really was a triumph.
Wow, your family massively rocks.
Wow - your family eats VERY WELL! hooray for holiday eating!
Good work Mabs, good work. I am impressed with the quantity and richness of food! I am going to have to go and have a snack now.
I think this is the best Christmas meal I've seen on the net. Wow. Personally, not so keen on the truffles, but hey, who's gonna be picky!?!
For once, someone who understands that Christmas just isn't the orgy of self-indulgence it ought to be without pork pies. We usually go for Mrs King's, with a pickled shallot or two. Making your own - any tips?
Just spotted blog on pork pie making - will definately be giving this a go. When making Mrs King's pies (you can get raw, frozen ones from the factory in Colston Bassett), we've always found it best to let the pie cool completely before adding the jelly. Just a thought.
truffles on SCRAMBLED EGGS. that is exactly how to live :)
Now, that's how to do Christmas. LOVE truffles on scrambled eggs or pasta.
Your family rock. A vast array of lovely foods.
Scrambled Eggs + Truffles for breakfast - Lovely.
It's nice to see that all families have their traditions, I need to start working on Truffles and Foie Gras being part of mine!
Like everyone else.... just SWOONING at the thought of all those truffled dishes...and foie gras... so beautifully photographed as well.
Such an amazing array of culinary delights to titillate and inspire!
Thanks so much for sharing,
H :)
