Tomoe - Oh No.

I have been eagerly looking forward to my trip to Tomoe, in Marylebone. I've read good reviews here, and here, and here. The day came for me to try lunch out.

I ordered the 'Deluxe Sushi Set'. In hindsight I should have asked how many pieces it included. It had 11. For £17. Yes, it was lovely and fresh and very tasty indeed. Perhaps I chose wrongly. Perhaps they didn't like the look of me.

I left hungry.

  1. You poor girl, still hungry after that. What a damp squib, you could've gone to Dinings for less money.

  2. Oh no, leaving a restaurant hungry is never good!

  3. Not exactly an affordable lunch option. A fiver a day for lunch can add up to enough. I mean, you might not eat it every day but when you spend all morning basically day dreaming about lunch then it's got to be filling for chrissakes.

  4. Oh, what a shame. I'd heard prices had gone up. Have they stopped doing the set lunches too?

  5. Yikes. I'm sorry. Have you been to Pham yet? Much more cost effective. A little dirty though...

But apparently, the new cool place to go is Kikuchi on Hanway Street. Jay Rayner wrote about it in January, and Nuno (ex Bacchus, now running his own Supper Club in his flat--see my blog for more) swears by it. I tried to go on Saturday but it was closed. Maybe we can have a little bloggie meetup after Easter with everyone.

  6. Sounds like a smashing idea, Krista.

I do think perhaps I chose wrongly, as everyone seems to have had a healthy amount of food.

  8. Hi Lizzie!

Sorry your experience wasn't as nice as mine -that portion does look pretty stingy :(

Their "deluxe" sets do seem a bit overpriced, but the rest is good value and I still reckon the quality was the nicest of any I've had in the UK.
